Paul Seixas Sets Civiglio Climbing Record in Il Lombardia Victory
Paul Seixas, a 20-year-old French cyclist, won Il Lombardia, one of the major races on the road cycling calendar.
His victory ended Tadej Pogačar’s five-year winning run at the race, though Pogačar was absent this time.
During the race, Seixas climbed the 4.1-kilometre Civiglio climb in 11 minutes and 54 seconds.
That was 38 seconds faster than Pogačar’s previous time on the climb, set in 2022.
Seixas has also won La Flèche Wallonne and Itzulia Basque Country, and finished fourth on his Tour de France debut.
His results have raised expectations for next season, but Seixas said one race is not enough to compare riders.
