30 NITs Gather at Surathkal to Advance Research Commercialization
NIT Karnataka is hosting leaders from 30 National Institutes of Technology.
They are meeting at the Surathkal campus for two days.
The visitors will talk about how research can become useful products and businesses.
They will also discuss problems that make this process difficult.
Experts will explain how an idea can move from a first sketch to a market-ready invention.
The delegates will study NITK’s policy on innovation and entrepreneurship.
They will tour several research and startup facilities on campus.
The meeting will also include the opening of NITK’s annual INCUBATE festival.
NIT Karnataka is hosting more than 50 representatives from 30 NITs for a two-day meeting on innovation and entrepreneurship.
Participants will discuss barriers to translating research into products, licensing agreements and startups.
Delegates will examine NITK’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship policy for possible adaptation at other institutes.
Experts will present methods for moving ideas from initial concepts to market-ready innovations and measurable impact.
The gathering coincides with the launch of INCUBATE, NITK’s annual entrepreneurship festival, on Friday.
