Assam races to repair flood-damaged embankments: Himanta Sarma

Assam is a place in India that gets flooded almost every year because it has many rivers.

When big floods happen, the walls that hold river water back can break.

These walls are called embankments.

When they break, water can rush into villages and farms very quickly.

The leader of the state government, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, is making sure the broken walls get fixed fast.

His team calls this 'mission mode', which means they are doing it as quickly as possible.

In a place called Jorhat, five walls were broken.

Four of them are already fixed, and the last one, at Shalmara, is almost finished.

The team is also making the walls stronger so they do not break again in future floods.
