Amazon India marketplace reports first PBIT profit in 14 years
Amazon India’s marketplace business turns profitable at PBIT level for first time in 14 years · CNBC TV 18

Amazon runs a big online shop in India where sellers list their products.

For 14 years, the part of the company that runs this marketplace lost money.

Now, for the first time, it has made a profit before interest and taxes.

Think of it like a lemonade stand that finally earned more money from lemonade than it spent on lemons and cups.

Last year, it already stopped losing money at the operating level.

This year, its earnings went up even more, and its sales crossed ₹35,500 crore.

The company still has to pay interest and taxes, so after those payments it still loses a little money.

But its cash flow grew a lot, which means it has more money coming in than going out.

Amazon has spent many years competing with other big online shops in India.

This shows the business is getting healthier.
