Illegal Structures Pose Major Challenge for Cyberabad Municipal Corporation
A large city in India called Hyderabad has an area known as Cyberabad.
Many people build houses and offices there without getting permission, which is against the rules.
These are called illegal constructions.
The city department that manages building work received many complaints about them.
In less than six months, people sent in more than 2,000 complaints.
The department solved more than eight out of every ten problems.
A special program called Prajavani helps residents share their problems.
When someone complains, an officer must respond within one day.
The officer must check the site within two days.
The department tries to finish a full report within seven days.
More than 2,000 citizen petitions over illegal constructions were filed with the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation in less than six months.
Between February 16 and August 3, the CMC received 2,089 petitions through its Prajavani grievance programme.
The corporation has resolved 82 per cent of grievances, clearing 1,710 while 202 remain pending.
The Town Planning Department received the highest number of complaints, mostly related to illegal constructions and violations of building norms.
Under Prajavani, officers must contact complainants within 24 hours, complete field verification within 48 hours, and finish an Action Taken Report within seven days.
