Trump administration reports 15th straight month of zero border releases

The government keeps track of what happens at America's border, the line that separates the United States from other countries.

The Trump administration says that for 15 months in a row, no people who came to the border without permission were released inside the country.

In July, border officers caught 9,295 people along the southwest border, which is fewer than the month before.

The government says the numbers are low because the rules are stricter and the border is more secure.

Officers also found more illegal drugs, including fentanyl, than they did a year earlier.

The border agency also checked packages coming into the country that were worth hundreds of billions of dollars.

It stopped some shipments that might have been made by forced workers and found many fake goods worth over two billion dollars.

The people in charge say the president's border security plan is working.
