MPs demand larger Boeing aircraft for AP routes
Some important people called MPs met with the civil aviation minister to talk about problems at airports in Andhra Pradesh.
They said flights between Vijayawada and Hyderabad are very expensive and the planes are too small, making it hard for people to carry their luggage.
They want bigger planes like Boeing to be used on these routes.
They also asked for new flights to cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Varanasi, and others.
The minister promised to help and said bigger planes are already being used at some airports.
He also said the government is working on making two new airports in Andhra Pradesh.
MPs Kesineni Sivanath (Chinni) and G M Harish met with civil aviation minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu to discuss issues at Vijayawada and Rajamahendravaram airports.
They highlighted high fares and poor seat availability on the Vijayawada–Hyderabad route, with tickets costing Rs 18,000–Rs 20,000.
ATR aircraft on the Vijayawada–Hyderabad and Rajahmundry–Vijayawada routes have inadequate luggage capacity, causing inconvenience, especially for international travelers.
MPs urged the deployment of larger Boeing aircraft on these sectors and sought new domestic flights to cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Varanasi, Ahmedabad, Pune, Cochin, and Goa.
Minister Ram Mohan Naidu assured quick action and reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to speeding up the Amaravati International Airport and Bhogapuram Airport projects.
