Arunachal Women Scale 7,077-Metre Mt Kun in Ladakh
Two brave women from Arunachal Pradesh, January Tali and Hachu Lombo, climbed a very tall mountain called Mt Kun in Ladakh.
The mountain is 7,077 metres high and is known for being very hard to climb because of steep snow and tricky glaciers.
They reached the top on July 27, 2024, and were one of only four people in their nine‑person team to do so.
The governor of Arunachal Pradesh, K T Parnaik, praised them for their courage and said their climb would inspire other young people, especially girls, to try adventure sports.
They will receive certificates from the Indian Mountaineering Foundation to recognize their achievement.
January Tali and Hachu Lombo, women from Arunachal Pradesh, summited Mt Kun (7,077 m) in Ladakh on July 27, 2024.
Mt Kun is one of the most demanding technical climbs in the Indian Himalayas, featuring steep snow, glaciers and unpredictable weather.
Only four of the nine‑member expedition team reached the summit; the women were among them.
Governor K T Parnaik praised the mountaineers, calling their ascent a source of pride and inspiration for Arunachal youth, especially women.
Both climbers will receive summit certificates from the Indian Mountaineering Foundation in New Delhi.
