Indian-origin teen charged with murdering mother, brother after ChatGPT searches

A 17-year-old boy named Arjun is accused of hurting his mom and little brother very badly at their house in Acton, Massachusetts.

Police say the boy's mom, Sudha, was 45 years old, and his brother, Siddharth, was 14 years old.

The boy's dad called the police on Tuesday evening because he couldn't reach his family, and a tutor who was supposed to visit couldn't get in touch either.

When officers arrived, they found the mom and brother badly hurt.

The boy had left in his mom's car, but police found him the next morning in a parking lot in a nearby town called Wayland and took him into custody.

Detectives looked at his online activity and found that he had used the internet and a computer helper called ChatGPT to look up ideas and fantasies about hurting his family.

Arjun is now charged with murder and other crimes.

Because he is 17, the case starts in a special court for young people, but the murder charge will be handled in Concord District Court.

Police are still working to find out exactly why this happened and what was used in the attack.
