Jaishankar Begins Five-Day Africa Visit to Deepen Bilateral Partnerships
India's External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, is visiting Ghana, Cote d'Ivoire and Ethiopia.
The trip runs from October 6 to 10.
He plans to meet leaders and foreign ministers in those countries.
They will discuss ways to work together in areas such as trade, development and education.
In Ethiopia, he will also lead a meeting of Indian representatives in the region.
Ghana says its discussions will include farming, medicines, jobs and technology partnerships.
Jaishankar also met the Commonwealth's Secretary-General, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, during a stop in Addis Ababa.
India says the trip shows its commitment to closer ties with African countries.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar began an official visit to Ghana, Cote d'Ivoire and Ethiopia from October 6 to 10.
He is due to meet counterparts and national leaders to review bilateral relations and discuss trade, development, capacity building and people-to-people ties.
In Addis Ababa, Jaishankar will chair a Regional Heads of Mission conference.
Ghana said Jaishankar would visit October 6–7 at the invitation of Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.
Ghana said talks would address pharmaceuticals, agricultural cooperation, industrialisation, job creation, scholarships and IT partnerships.
