Only Six Flexi-Cap Funds Score Sortino Ratio Above 1
Imagine your savings are like a piggy bank that sometimes loses value.
The Sortino ratio is a special score that shows how well a fund makes money without taking big scary risks.
A score above 1 means the fund earned more than the risk it took.
In India, there are 45 flexi-cap funds, which can invest in big and small companies.
Only six of them scored above 1.
The Bank of India Flexi Cap Fund had the best score of 1.18.
The Samco Flexi Cap Fund had a negative score, meaning it did not reward investors enough for the risk.
The top fund also grew money faster over one, three and five years than a low-scoring fund.
So this score helps people choose funds that are better at protecting their money during bad times.
Only 6 of India's 45 flexi-cap mutual funds recorded a Sortino ratio above 1, according to AMFI June data.
Bank of India Flexi Cap Fund led with the highest Sortino ratio of 1.18, ahead of Parag Parikh Flexi Cap Fund at 1.16.
Motilal Oswal Flexi Cap Fund (1.08), Quant Flexi Cap Fund (1.04), 360 ONE Flexicap Fund (1.03) and HDFC Flexi Cap Fund (1.01) also crossed the 1 threshold.
Samco Flexi Cap Fund was the only fund with a negative Sortino ratio (-0.29), while Shriram Flexi Cap Fund (0.32), SBI Flexicap Fund (0.33), UTI Flexi Cap Fund (0.45) and Sundaram Flexi Cap Fund (0.47) ranked lowest.
The top-scoring Bank of India Flexi Cap Fund also delivered higher returns, with 21.46% three-year and 17.50% five-year CAGR versus Shriram Flexi Cap Fund's 10.36% and 9.74%.
