Luxembourg Firm Proposes Rs 83,480 Crore Karnataka Green Hub
A Luxembourg company wants to build a large technology and clean-energy project in Karnataka.
The project would be located between Bengaluru and Tumakuru.
It would include big data centres, renewable energy facilities and green hydrogen production.
The complete project could cost Rs 83,480 crore and would be built in three phases.
The first phase would cost about Rs 17,114 crore.
It would need around 1,000 acres of land.
The company says it would recycle 80% to 85% of the water used.
Karnataka officials believe the project could create jobs and help Tumakuru grow as a technology and industrial centre.
However, the project is only a proposal and still needs many government approvals.
Luxembourg-based Innovation Platform Capital proposed investing Rs 83,480 crore in Karnataka across three phases.
The planned Bengaluru–Tumakuru hub would combine hyperscale data centres, renewable energy and green hydrogen production.
The full project would include 2,250 MW of data-centre capacity and 1,000 MW of green hydrogen capacity.
The first phase is estimated at Rs 17,114 crore and would include 400 MW of data-centre capacity, a 500 MW green hydrogen and power complex, and about 1,000 acres of land.
The proposal remains subject to land decisions, environmental and safety reviews, water planning, power arrangements and statutory clearances.
