Maharashtra Approves ₹136.76 Crore Revised Karanja Harbour Expansion Plan
Maharashtra has approved money to expand the Karanja fishery harbour in Uran.
The project is expected to cost ₹136.76 crore.
It includes 21 different construction and improvement works.
A new 370-metre quay wall will be built.
The harbour will also get wider boat access areas, fish auction halls and a large ice plant.
A cold storage facility will help keep fish fresh.
Fishermen will receive facilities such as a rest house, gear shed and net-mending shed.
Work must begin only after the required permissions are obtained and should be completed on time.
Maharashtra approved a revised ₹136.76 crore plan to expand Karanja fishery harbour in Uran.
The expansion includes 21 works: 11 transferred projects and 10 newly proposed works.
The Maharashtra Fisheries Development Corporation will implement the expansion.
Major projects include a 370-metre quay wall, wider channels, auction halls and an ice plant.
The harbour will also receive cold storage, fishermen’s facilities, drainage, fire-fighting and fuel infrastructure.
