UP NEET UG 2026: 71 Students Debarred for Non-Reporting
Every year, a group in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh runs a test called NEET to help students get into medical colleges to become doctors or dentists.
After the main rounds of choosing colleges, there are extra rounds to fill seats that are still empty.
Some students who got seats in these extra rounds did not go to the college they were given.
Because they did not go, the medical education department said they cannot try again this year.
This rule is like a promise: if you get a seat, you must go, or other students who wanted that seat lose their chance.
In total, 71 students who did not keep this promise are now barred from this year's counselling.
The rule also covers students who paid fees or left a seat without finishing the admission process.
New registration for this year's counselling has started for eligible students.
Students must pay their fees by August 12 at 5 PM to apply.
The Directorate General of Medical Education and Training (DGME), Uttar Pradesh, has debarred 71 candidates from UP NEET UG counselling for the 2026-27 academic session.
The debarred candidates were allotted MBBS or BDS seats in the Stray Vacancy Round or Special Stray Vacancy Round of the 2025-26 counselling but failed to report to their allotted institutions.
The action also covers candidates who were allotted seats and paid prescribed course fees but left an MBBS or BDS seat without completing the course.
DGME Uttar Pradesh has commenced Round 1 registration for UP NEET UG counselling 2026, available on the official website upneet.gov.in.
The deadline for payment of the registration fee and security money for UP NEET UG counselling 2026 is August 12 at 5 PM.
