Petrol, Diesel Prices on August 6 Across Major Indian Cities

Every day, companies in India set the price of petrol and diesel, and the prices change from city to city.

On August 6, petrol in Delhi costs ₹102.12 for one litre, which is more than ₹100.

People in Mumbai pay even more, ₹111.21 for a litre of petrol.

Prices are different in different cities for a few reasons.

State governments add their own taxes, and every state has different rates.

The cost of crude oil around the world matters, because India buys oil from other countries.

The value of the Indian rupee compared to the US dollar also changes the price.

Transport costs and how much fuel people need make small differences too.

There was also a change for businesses: from August 1, the price of big commercial gas cylinders used by shops and restaurants went down by about ₹200.

However, the 14-kilogram cylinders that families use at home stayed the same price.
