NHRC seeks report on tribal student's death
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has asked the police and the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) to investigate the death of a 14-year-old tribal student at the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS).
The student died after an altercation in the hostel on December 11.
The NHRC says the school might have hidden what really happened and not told the police or the student's parents right away.
They also didn't follow proper legal steps, like doing a post-mortem.
The NHRC wants a report within two weeks.
Another group, the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST), is also looking into the case.
The police have said it was a murder, and the school didn't tell them about it.
