Shubman Gill's tri-series revival plan gains ECB support

Cricket is a popular sport where two teams play a game called a one-day international, or ODI.

A long time ago, three teams would sometimes play together in a 'tri-series' tournament, and fans loved watching it.

Shubman Gill, the captain of India's one-day team, wants to bring these tournaments back.

He thinks playing the same team again and again is boring, and that three or four teams together would be more fun.

The England and Wales Cricket Board, which runs cricket in England, likes his idea.

Its chief executive says several multi-team tournaments are already planned for the next year and a half.

However, the specific teams and dates have not been announced yet.

The biggest problem is that the cricket schedule is already very full with two-team matches.

If leaders can find space in the calendar, fans might get to enjoy tri-series again.
