Driver of Telangana Minister’s Former OSD Arrested in Assault Case
Police arrested the driver of a former aide to Telangana Minister Konda Surekha.
The arrest is connected to a complaint by real estate businessman Gongidi Harikrishna.
Harikrishna says six people attacked him with iron rods and sticks.
He also says they demanded Rs 10 crore from him.
He reported a broken left hand and other injuries.
He underwent surgery on August 10.
Police first registered a zero FIR in Medipally and later moved the case to Jubilee Hills.
The case was filed against former OSD N. Sumanth and five others.
It comes while the Congress party is dealing with controversy involving Surekha’s daughter and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
Police arrested the driver of former OSD N. Sumanth near Sumanth’s residence in Tellapur on Sunday.
Real estate businessman Gongidi Harikrishna alleged that Sumanth and five others assaulted him with rods and sticks.
Harikrishna alleged the group demanded Rs 10 crore and threatened him with serious consequences.
An attempt-to-murder case was registered under Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The case comes amid a Congress dispute involving Forest and Endowments Minister Konda Surekha’s family.
