Dr. Reddy’s launches initiative to strengthen India’s obesity care workforce
Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories has started a programme to help more people care for patients with obesity.
It plans to train more than 5,000 healthcare workers.
These workers may include nurses, dietitians and diabetes educators.
They will learn how to identify obesity risks and support healthier lifestyles.
They will also learn how to help patients follow treatment plans.
The programme focuses on long-term care, not just occasional doctor visits.

India has a very large number of adults affected by generalized and abdominal obesity.
The trained workers are expected to support doctors and patients.
Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories launched a nationwide educational initiative to improve obesity care in India.

Training will cover obesity prevention, risk assessment, patient counselling, lifestyle changes and long-term management.

The initiative comes as India faces an estimated 254 million adults with generalized obesity and about 351 million with abdominal obesity.
