Maharashtra FDA Busts Illegal Abortion Kit Racket, 8 Charged
Some medicines are only allowed to be given to adults by a doctor.
One special medicine helps end a pregnancy, but using it the wrong way can be dangerous.
Some people were selling these medicines secretly without a doctor's permission.
Special government officers called the FDA found out and went to check.
They looked in a clinic and found lots of these medicines hidden there.
They also found two people carrying fifty medicine kits in their bags.
The officers arrested those people and filed cases against eight people in total.
Some of the selling was happening on an online shopping website called IndiaMART.
The FDA says using these medicines without a trained doctor can make people very sick.
So the officers will keep watching to make sure nobody sells them illegally again.
The Maharashtra FDA busted a racket involved in the illegal purchase and sale of medical abortion kits in Nagpur and Solapur districts.
Cases were filed against eight individuals, including executives and directors of the online portal IndiaMART.
A surprise inspection of Dr Sachin Marghade's Shree Sai Clinic in Nagpur found medicines stored for unauthorised sale, with labels and batch numbers removed from the abortion kits.
Police arrested two persons found carrying 50 MTP kits and are searching for the alleged supplier.
The FDA seized combined stock of MTP kits, Alprazolam and Sildenafil worth Rs 54,181 across the two cases.
