Maharashtra Approves 98-Year PPP Lease For MSRTC Surplus Land
Maharashtra has approved a plan to develop some land owned by its state bus corporation.
The land is spread across about 850 places and covers more than 3,500 acres.
Private companies can work with the corporation to develop the properties.
The land can be leased for up to 98 years, in two 49-year periods.
Each property must have its own tender process.
A government committee will oversee the work, and the Chief Minister must approve each project’s tender.
The developments could bring the corporation upfront and continuing income, as well as a share in some completed commercial complexes.
The transport minister said the money would help strengthen the corporation and its passenger services.
