AAP Donations Plunge as BJD Reports No Contributions in 2025-26
Political parties in India must report many of their donations to the Election Commission.
The Aam Aadmi Party reported receiving Rs 12.09 crore in 2025-26.
That was much less than the Rs 38.10 crore it reported the year before.
Two donors provided most of the Aam Aadmi Party’s reported money.
The Biju Janata Dal reported no donations above Rs 20,000 during the same year.
This came after it reported Rs 60 crore the previous year.
Other parties, including the Telugu Desam Party and YSR Congress Party, reported receiving substantial donations.
The totals may be higher because parties do not have to list donations of Rs 20,000 or less in these reports.
The Aam Aadmi Party reported Rs 12.09 crore in donations for 2025-26, down 68% from Rs 38.10 crore the previous year.
The Prudent Electoral Trust and Trident Limited each contributed Rs 5 crore to the Aam Aadmi Party.
The Biju Janata Dal reported no donations exceeding Rs 20,000 in 2025-26, compared with Rs 60 crore the previous year.
The Telugu Desam Party received Rs 58.25 crore, including Rs 45 crore from the Prudent Electoral Trust.
The YSR Congress Party reported Rs 24.30 crore, while the Asom Gana Parishad and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) reported Rs 7.64 crore and Rs 3.23 crore, respectively.
