Parul Mukherjee’s Secret Training of Bengal’s Women Revolutionaries
Parul Mukherjee was an Indian freedom fighter from Bengal.
She joined a secret group resisting British rule when she was only 14.
Her older brother was already involved in the movement.
Parul helped create a women’s branch of the group.
She taught young women about revolutionary ideas and trained them in self-defence and sword fighting.
In 1935, British police arrested her in a house where weapons and explosives were found.
She did not reveal the names of other revolutionaries.
Much of her life after the arrest was not recorded, but she died in 1990.
Parul Mukherjee joined the Anushilan Samiti in 1929 at age 14.
She helped build the organisation’s women’s wing and recruited young women.
Her study circles combined revolutionary ideas with physical training and swordplay.
Police arrested Mukherjee and other revolutionaries in Titagarh on 20 January 1935.
She reportedly remained silent during the arrest and died in 1990, but much of her later life is undocumented.
