The incident reportedly occurred around 11:00–11:15 p.m. on September 3 near Marine Drive.
A video showing the cars speeding and overtaking other motorists was captured by citizen Sana Khan and later went viral.
Marine Drive Police registered an FIR against at least six unidentified drivers under Sections 281 and 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
No arrests have been made; police said they identified the vehicles and may seize them during the investigation.
