The Enforcement Directorate asked Punjab’s police chief to register a case against people linked to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s aide.

The allegations involve influencing government postings, arms licences and land deals.

The investigation is connected to alleged fake documents used to obtain permission to develop land.

Mann said the allegations were not true.

He accused the BJP of using government agencies against political opponents.

Mann also said the arrest of former Delhi minister Satyendar Jain was connected to the upcoming Punjab elections.

Jain and five others were arrested in a separate case involving sewage-treatment-project tenders.

“This is what they do. They make up cases. There is no truth in it. Opposition is finding any issues to raise. They are just pointing fingers. I do not need certificate of honesty from people who have looted Punjab.”
