Japanese Filmmaker Praises Bollywood's Popularity in Japan
A Japanese filmmaker named Kei Ishikawa is happy that his new movie, A Pale View of Hills, is coming to India.
He says that streaming platforms like BookMyShow Stream make it easier for people to watch movies from all over the world.
He also talked about how Bollywood movies, especially Baahubali, are very popular in Japan.
He even got to see some Indian art films in Goa and wants to watch more.
He had to change some parts of the story in his movie because it was originally a book told from a mother's point of view, but in the movie, it's about the daughter finding out about her mother's history.
Kei Ishikawa's film A Pale View of Hills will stream in India after its festival run at Cannes and IFFI.
Ishikawa acknowledges the role of streaming platforms in expanding access to global cinema.
He notes that Bollywood films, particularly Baahubali, are very popular in Japan.
Ishikawa discovered the popularity of Indian arthouse films during his visit to Goa.
The film is adapted from Kazuo Ishiguro's 1982 novel, with narrative changes to focus on the daughter's perspective.
