Mumbai’s civic body wants to make a hillside in Malabar Hill safer.

The slope is near Kamla Nehru Park.

The planned work will cost about Rs 41.83 crore.

A large tree fell three months ago and damaged an elevated forest walkway.

The walkway had been built as Mumbai’s first elevated forest walkway.

While it was being constructed in 2022, a structural consultant studied how to strengthen the slope.

The consultant suggested several safety measures.

These include steel mesh, rock support, barriers, soil grouting and a retaining wall.
