Pocharam Says He Joined Congress to Develop Constituency

Pocharam Srinivas Reddy used to be the speaker of the Assembly, the person who helps run meetings of the state's lawmakers.

Not long ago, he switched political teams from the BRS party to the Congress party.

He says he made that switch to help his home area, Banswada, grow faster with new public works.

Pocharam says the state's top leader, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, promised that money for Banswada's works would be released within six months.

But he says that money has still not come.

He also says two other leaders, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, stopped answering his phone calls.

Pocharam insists he did not join the Congress party to become a minister or to get money for himself.

He remembered that the earlier leader, K. Chandrashekar Rao, gave Banswada lots of money when he was Chief Minister.

People in his new party think he just wants funding for his area all the time, while people in his old party are happy that he praised their leader.
