Andhra Pradesh Government Pledges to Restore 34% BC Quota
Naidu Government Committed to Restoring 34% BC Quota: Savitha · deccanchronicle.com

Andhra Pradesh’s BC Welfare Minister S. Savitha said the government wants to bring back a 34% quota for Backward Classes in local elections.

She said the quota would help BC communities gain political representation.

The government is also preparing a law to protect BC people from caste-based insults and social boycotts.

The proposed law may create special courts in districts.

It would also aim to finish investigations within two months.

Savitha said the government had discussed the law with elected representatives and BC community corporations.

She blamed the previous YSRC government for lowering the quota to 24% in 2019.

She also said the government would soon start the Adarana 3.0 welfare program.
