Bombay High Court Discharges Former DSKDL Executive in Fraud Case
The Bombay High Court cleared Kedar Prakash Vanjape of criminal charges in the D.S. Kulkarni financial fraud case.
Vanjape had been a senior employee at D.S. Kulkarni Developers Ltd.
He left the company in August 2009.
The company began accepting public deposits several months later, in January 2010.
The court said he was no longer an employee when the deposits were collected.
It also examined a land deal involving Vanjape’s wife and the company.
The court said the deal had been approved by the company’s board.
Because there was no evidence of Vanjape’s direct involvement, the case against him was ended.
The Bombay High Court discharged former DSKDL Vice-President Kedar Prakash Vanjape from all criminal charges.
Justice Shivkumar Dige set aside the Special MPID Court’s earlier decision rejecting Vanjape’s discharge application.
The court noted Vanjape resigned in August 2009, before DSKDL began accepting public deposits in January 2010.
It found no evidence that Vanjape participated in the alleged conspiracy or fraudulent schemes.
The court also said the Fursungi land transaction was board-approved and did not establish Vanjape’s personal criminal liability.
