Farmers’ representatives won nearly every seat in an election at a large sugar cooperative in Gujarat.

The cooperative is called the Bardoli sugar factory.

The Kisan Parivartan Panel won all 14 seats that were contested.

The BJP-backed panel won only one seat.

Anil Patel had already won that seat without opposition.

This ended the BJP’s 20-year control of the factory’s management.

BJP leader Ishvar Parmar was among those defeated.

The factory began in 1955 and has an annual turnover of Rs 600 crore.
