Joy Goswami to Voice Tagore in Srijit Mukherji’s New Film
A new Bengali movie will tell a story about writers Rabindranath Tagore and Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay.
It focuses on Sarat Chandra’s novel Pather Dabi.
The British government banned the novel because it feared the story could encourage resistance.
Tagore and Sarat Chandra exchanged letters about the book and the responsibilities of writers.
Actor Sanjoy Nag will play Tagore on screen.
Poet Joy Goswami will speak Tagore’s dialogue in the film.
They previously worked together on a film about Tagore in 2013.
The new movie will open in cinemas during Durga Puja on October 15.

Srijit Mukherji directs the Nandy Movies production, which explores the controversy surrounding Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s novel Pather Dabi.
Pather Dabi was banned by the British government in Bengal from 1927 until 1939 over concerns about revolutionary influence.
