Vimal said he mobilised ₹4.5 crore after being asked to demonstrate his ability to fund campaign expenses, but received only ₹50 lakh back.
Police told the court that Illuppur police had begun a preliminary inquiry and had summoned Vimal to appear on August 28.
The court has not ordered registration of a First Information Report, and the allegations remain unproven.
