Over 2,000 Vinayagar Idols Immersed Peacefully Across Chennai Coast
More than 2,000 Vinayagar idols were taken to the sea in Chennai after festival celebrations.
The idols were immersed at four special coastal locations.
The largest number, 1,302, was immersed at Pattinapakkam.
Police said the process was peaceful.
About 16,500 police personnel helped manage the event.
Another 2,000 Home Guards assisted along the routes and at the beaches.
Machines, cameras, drones, ambulances, and boats were ready to help keep people safe.
Some other idols had already been immersed in local waterbodies after prayers.
A total of 2,054 Vinayagar idols were immersed at four Chennai coastal locations on Sunday.
Pattinapakkam received 1,302 idols, followed by Neelankarai with 560 and Kasimedu with 184.
The idols came from Greater Chennai, Avadi, and Tambaram police jurisdictions.
Security involved 16,500 police personnel and 2,000 Home Guards.
Cranes, conveyor belts, CCTV cameras, drones, emergency vehicles, boats, and volunteer swimmers supported the operation.
