Two Accused Seek Approver Status in Renukaswamy Murder Case
In June 2024, a man named Renukaswamy from Chitradurga was hurt and died.
His remains were found on June 9 near a stormwater drain in Kamakshipalya, Bengaluru, India.
Police arrested 15 people, including famous Kannada movie actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, and Renukaswamy was reportedly a fan of the actor.
Now, one of the arrested men, Pradosh, wants to switch sides and help the court — in India, such a person is called an 'approver.'
Pradosh said he would tell the whole truth about the murder, what happened to the evidence, and what everyone else did.
He also asked to be kept in a separate cell because he is afraid of the other accused.
The special prosecutor agreed, but only if Pradosh tells everything honestly, while Darshan's lawyer said the court should follow all the rules first.
The judge will give the final answer on Monday, August 10, 2026.

Pradosh S (Accused No. 14) filed an 11-page petition under Section 307 of the CrPC before the 59th City Civil and Sessions Court (CCH-59) in Bengaluru seeking approver status.
He offered a 'full and truthful disclosure' of the alleged murder, disposal of evidence, and roles of all co-accused, and asked to be moved to a separate cell at Parappana Agrahara Central Prison citing fear of intimidation.
Special Public Prosecutor Prasanna P Kumar submitted a memo consenting to the pardon, provided Pradosh satisfies all legal conditions and makes a complete confession.
Senior advocate Hashmath Pasha, appearing for Darshan Thoogudeepa, opposed the plea, arguing that the defence was not given copies and that due procedure must be followed.
The court reserved its order on Pradosh's petition for Monday, August 10, 2026; co-accused Ravi Shankar (A8) and V Vinay (A10) also intend to seek approver status.
