North India Turns Dry as South, Northeast Face Rain
The India Meteorological Department says northern India will become mostly dry starting September 30.
Delhi recently had rain and thunderstorms, but clearer skies are expected next.
Temperatures in Delhi should slowly rise over the next few days.
Much of northwest India, including Haryana, Punjab and parts of Uttar Pradesh, is also expected to stay dry.
Some parts of the Himalayas may still get occasional rain and thunderstorms.
The Northeast is likely to remain rainy through October 4, with heavy rain possible in some places.
Parts of southern India may also receive heavy showers.
This change is happening as the southwest monsoon slowly moves away from India.
Delhi and much of northwest India are expected to turn mainly dry from September 30.
Delhi may see temperatures of about 24°C to 33°C on Wednesday, rising to 34–36°C in early October.
Dry conditions are forecast across Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and parts of Uttar Pradesh through the first week of October.
The Northeast may receive rain, including some heavy rainfall, through October 4.
Tamil Nadu, Kerala and South Interior Karnataka are among the southern areas forecast to receive isolated heavy rain over the next four to five days.
