New York Times, Amazon sign AI licensing deal · The Hindu

The New York Times is letting Amazon use its news articles and other content for its AI products.

This means Amazon can create summaries and show excerpts from the Times on things like Alexa.

The Times is also using the deal to train Amazon's AI models.

The Times had spent $4.4 million on a copyright lawsuit in the first quarter of 2025 against Microsoft and OpenAI.

The deal allows Amazon to access news articles and content from NYT Cooking and The Athletic.
