Vadodara piped gas supply disrupted due to pipeline damage
A big pipe that carries gas to many homes in Vadodara got damaged on Sunday.
This happened because a new pipe for drainage was being put in the ground and it accidentally hit the gas pipe.
More than 2.75 lakh people who use gas from this pipe had no gas all day.
The people who take care of the gas pipe and the fire department went to see the damage and are trying to fix it.
The gas pipe that got damaged brings gas from a place called Amaliyara to Vadodara.
The drainage pipe was being put over the gas pipe, and when it hit the gas pipe, gas started leaking, which told the people about the damage.
Over 2.75 lakh consumers of Vadodara Gas Limited (VGL) were affected by a disruption in piped gas supply.
The damage occurred due to an error during the laying of a new drainage pipeline by the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC).
The main steel pipeline of VGL was damaged near the Golden Chowkdi area of Vadodara.
VGL officials and the fire department assessed the damage and are working on repairs.
The gas leakage alerted VMC officials about the damage caused to the pipeline.
