Jio Unveils AI Wearables, Demonstrates UPI Payments Through Glasses
Reliance Jio showed new glasses and audio devices that use artificial intelligence.
At a demonstration, the glasses scanned a shop’s payment QR code after a person asked them to.
The system reportedly asked the person to confirm by voice before making the payment.
Jio has not yet explained all the safety steps or said that this payment feature is ready for customers.
The glasses can also take pictures and videos, translate 12 languages and answer questions.
Other devices can play music and make calls.
Jio says its voice assistant can also help with studying, fitness and reminders.
The devices are planned to run on JioRealityOS.
Reliance Jio presented AI-powered glasses, audio frames and wireless earbuds at the India Mobile Congress 2026.
A demonstration showed camera-equipped JioFrames scanning a merchant QR code and starting a UPI payment through voice commands.
The reported payment flow asked for voice confirmation, but Jio has not disclosed authentication details, transaction limits or security safeguards.
JioFrames are designed for hands-free photos and video, live streaming, real-time translation in 12 languages and voice-based AI assistance.
The wearables are intended to support calls, music, learning, fitness guidance, reminders and other features through JioRealityOS.
