Vodafone Idea Moves Closer To Raising ₹45,000 crore As SBI Agrees To Sanction Its Share Of Loan · freepressjournal.in

Vodafone Idea wants to borrow about ₹45,000 crore to improve its mobile network.

State Bank of India has agreed to approve its part of a larger loan package.

However, the money will not be released until other lenders provide their portions.

Some private banks want stronger guarantees from the company’s major promoter groups.

A guarantee from a smaller promoter company has so far been viewed mainly as a sign of support.

Kumar Mangalam Birla is reportedly reluctant to offer guarantees through larger Aditya Birla Group companies.

Vodafone Idea has already raised about ₹6,400 crore.

It has also ordered roughly ₹9,000 crore worth of network equipment and services.

The Indian government owns nearly 49% of the company after converting statutory dues into equity.
