Singapore Pays People to Read Books Instead of Scrolling
Singapore wants people to spend more time reading books and less time endlessly scrolling.
Its National Library Board created a program called ReadSG.
The program began on September 6.
It will run as a national movement for five years.
People can join by reading for at least 15 minutes.
They record their reading on a platform called CrowdTask SG.
For one qualifying reading session each day, they receive 20 virtual coins.
After collecting 1,000 coins, they can exchange them for S$1.
