Soil Found in Government‑Procured Moong, Rs 28 Crore Loss
Farmers in Madhya Pradesh protested for the government to buy all their moong beans.
After the protest, officials checked a warehouse in Narmadapuram and found that the beans were mixed with soil and mud.
They discovered about 31,300 quintals of beans were contaminated.
This caused the government to lose more than Rs 28 crore.
The police have filed a complaint against the warehouse manager, the state warehousing manager, and the private owner.
The warehouse is now sealed and investigators are looking into what happened.

The adulterated stock belonged to NAFED and MARKFED, procured in 2023‑24 and 2024‑25 seasons.
The contamination is estimated to have caused a loss of more than Rs 28 crore to the government.
An FIR has been registered against the district manager, branch manager of the State Warehousing Corporation, and the private warehouse owner.
The Kanakdhara warehouse has been sealed and further investigation is underway.
