Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended a special celebration in New Delhi.

He said the UPSC represents the hopes of millions of young Indians.

He also praised the trust people place in the institution.

A special coin, stamp and book were released for the occasion.

Modi spoke about leaders such as Subhas Chandra Bose and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and their links to public service.

He also praised Captain Smit Machchhar for showing courage during an incident involving an aircraft.

The event marked the end of year-long celebrations for the UPSC’s century-long journey.
