Indian Badminton Stars Reach Taipei Open Super 300 Quarterfinals
In Taipei, four Indian badminton players made it to the last eight of a big tournament.
Unnati Hooda, Tanvi Sharma, Devika Sihag, and Kiran George won their games.
Kiran beat Tharun Mannepalli, and Unnati beat Tanya Hemanth.
Devika beat Ni Kadek Dhinda Amartya Pratiwi.
Two of the players will play each other, so India is sure to have a woman in the final four.
Two other Indian players, HS Prannoy and Anmol Kharb, lost their matches and are out of the tournament.
Unnati Hooda, Tanvi Sharma, Devika Sihag, and Kiran George advanced to the quarterfinals of the Taipei Open Super 300.
Kiran George defeated Tharun Mannepalli 21‑15, 21‑16 to secure his spot.
Unnati Hooda beat Tanya Hemanth 21‑19, 21‑12; Devika Sihag beat Ni Kadek Dhinda Amartya Pratiwi 21‑16, 21‑15.
An all‑Indian quarterfinal between Unnati Hooda and Devika Sihag guarantees India at least one women’s singles semifinalist.
HS Prannoy and Anmol Kharb were eliminated after defeats to Jason Gunawan and Lin Hsiang Ti respectively.
