The building was near Delhi University’s South Campus and Sri Venkateswara College.

Officials said the building had previously been marked as dangerous.

They also said it may have had more floors than its approved plan allowed.

Police filed a case against the alleged owner and others.

The Delhi government ordered an investigation, while the High Court agreed to urgently hear a related plea.

Political parties and student groups are demanding answers and stronger safety checks.
