How Taxpayers Can Track Missing Income Tax Refunds Online
If your income tax refund has not arrived, you can check where it is online.
Log in to the Income Tax Department’s e-filing portal with your PAN and password.
Open “e-File,” choose “Income Tax Returns,” and select “View Filed Returns.”
Pick the correct assessment year to see the refund status.
“View Details” can show the return’s processing history and any action still needed.
A failed refund does not necessarily mean the money is lost.
It may be delayed because of incorrect bank information, an inactive account, or a PAN-Aadhaar issue.
Your return must also be verified before it can be processed.
Taxpayers can check their ITR and refund status through the Income Tax Department’s e-filing portal.
The portal shows whether a return is processed, a refund is issued, adjusted, failed, or awaiting action.
Refunds may fail because of incorrect bank details, an unvalidated account, an IFSC error, or a closed account.
A PAN-Aadhaar linking issue can make the PAN inoperative and affect refund processing.
Refund claims determined on or before March 31, 2023, can be checked through Protean’s refund status facility.
