Fake ST Certificates May Trigger Corruption Cases Against Police Officials

Officials in Madhya Pradesh say two police officials used fake Scheduled Tribe certificates to get police jobs.

One person, RS Meena, is a retired IPS officer.

The other, Amitabh Pratap Singh, was a sub-inspector who was dismissed.

A state committee examined their certificates and said they were fake.

The committee also said the two did not belong to the Scheduled Tribe community.

Police agencies have registered separate cases against them.

Officials say another case under the Prevention of Corruption Act may be filed.

The state government’s permission is needed before that case can proceed.

Two other similar cases are still being challenged in the High Court.
