Telangana Police Redeploy Personnel and Vehicles After Maoism Ends

Telangana Police no longer needs as much special security because Maoism has ended in the state.

So, it moved people and vehicles to other police units that need them more.

This included 376 personnel, 20 bullet-proof vehicles and 83 other vehicles.

Another 573 personnel were moved after special extra pay linked to Greyhounds and OCTOPUS was withdrawn.

The changes are expected to save the police department about Rs.28.16 crore.

Other changes have raised the government’s estimated total savings to about Rs.90 crore.

Police leaders also discussed how to use the department’s 93,000 approved positions better.

They talked about promotions, training and a health programme for police staff.

Telangana Police is also preparing to host a conference of police chiefs from southern states next month.
