Para paddler Nurjahan Jamani awarded Sardar Patel Sports Award
A very good table tennis player from India named Nurjahan Jamani won a big award.
The award is called the Sardar Patel Sports Award and it was given by the government of Gujarat.
Nurjahan plays para table tennis, a sport for athletes with disabilities.
She had polio when she was five years old, which affects how her body works.
She played table tennis a long time ago, then stopped for more than ten years.
In 2022, she started playing again and became very successful.
Now she is the No.
1 player in India and No.
27 in the world.
She also works at an airport company and gets support from a sports program called Adani Sportsline.
Next, she hopes to compete in the Asian Para Games in Japan in 2026.
India's No. 1 ranked para table tennis player Nurjahan Noorali Jamani received the Sardar Patel Sports Award from the Government of Gujarat.
Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi presented the award at a ceremony in Gandhinagar on Wednesday.
Jamani, ranked No. 27 in the world, was diagnosed with polio at age five and returned to competitive para table tennis in 2022 after a decade-long break.
She recently defended her title at the UTT Para Senior National Championship 2025-26 in Indore.
She is now aiming to qualify for the 2026 Asian Para Games in Aichi and Nagoya, Japan, scheduled for October 18-24.
