TIDCO Re-Tenders for Kovilpatti Air Strip Concessionaire
TIDCO, a state-owned company in Tamil Nadu, is looking for a company to use an old airstrip in Kovilpatti for teaching people how to fly planes.
They had to redo their request because of some technical problems.
The airstrip is quite big and is not being used right now.
It was built by a company called Lakshmi Mills for their private plane.
There is another place in Salem that was recently approved for the same kind of training.
TIDCO is re-tendering to find a concessionaire for the Kovilpatti air strip for aircraft training.
The re-tender is due to technical issues like reducing the minimum price and eligibility conditions.
The airstrip is 63 hectares and is located 6 km from Kovilpatti town.
The runway is 1.2 km long and 15 m wide.
EKVI Aircraft Training Organisation was approved for FTO in Salem in July 2023.
